KIOSK

A wooden microstructure embedded in Chicago’s neighborhood fabric transforms an ordinary storefront into a flexible urban kiosk that holds space for cultural exchange.

We proposed a simple intervention in 3 parts: 2 fixed, 1 flexible.

A lattice wood grid on the ceiling.
A stained wood grid on the floor.
A series of demountable wood panels in between.

Together, this framework hosts guests, lights, art, and decor. It can reconfigure to become whatever the setting calls for - a screen, a room, a table, a wall, a stage.

A dynamic backdrop for display and discourse.
